Vegas Limestone

When Red Rock sandstone gets wet, climbing shuts down for at least a day. Pulling on soaked sandstone destroys holds and puts you at risk.

But that doesn’t mean you have to take a rest day. Vegas limestone is the local rainy-day solution — sharp, durable, and ready to climb when sandstone is not.

These crags aren’t about world-class reputation or sweeping multi-pitch epics. They’re about convenience. Close to the city, short approaches, and reliable dry rock.

This page is your guide to the limestone crags that keep the stoke alive when Red Rock is out of condition.

Wet Stone Backup Options

Red Rock sandstone needs time to dry after storms — usually 24–48 hours — or it breaks under your hands and feet. When the desert storms hit, you don’t have to bail — you just switch rock types.
